Well with Spring here, it is time to spring clean or declutter.

Firstly, have a plan.

Make a checklist and categorise by items.

Try to clear, not so much room by room, but by category such, shoes, hats, books, linen, games, toys. Otherwise you could find that you are creating the same space multiple times. Have one space for books, shoes, coats, camping gear, games etc.

Remember you are not tidying, you are clearing and decluttering.

Make sure everyone is on the same page before you start. Have a conversation before you start, in case there is something that the other person or persons in your house definitely have in mind.

Know if you want to sell, throw out or can it be donated. This will help you use your time more efficiently and keep you on track.

Do not relocate items, make a decision and stick to it.

Use Facebook marketplaces, Gumtree or ebay to find out the worth of your items and decide then if you want to sell or donate.

Remember for donations, make a list of local organisation that are happy to accept your donations. Most organisations have a criteria for accepting goods. This will help you decide if it worth the trouble or if you should just arrange a tip run or local council pickup.

Check with your local council as they have set rules on when to put the items on the street kerb, how much and what you can and can not put out.

Remember less is best. Fewer items in your home makes finding items easier.

We all know that you can feel overwhelmed, when you are surrounded with clutter.
